As this post is inspired by someone beloved. I'll like to dedicate this post to him. Cause this might be one of the few ways of reaching out to him while giving his own space to breathe and not to feel ashamed. Yeah, I'm ruthless. But that's the word --- Ashamed.
"This beautiful poem is a testament to the nature of the human spirit. It is an inspiring work to read in difficult times." - as quoted.
Truly indeed. For the those who are prisoners of their own sorrows. Ignore all the politics surrounding this poem cause I have no interest in that. But, W. E. Henley the poet who wrote this has been inspiring me since I've fallen into the depth of despair a few years ago. I'm in the midst of climbing up with friends hanging around, pulling me up. :D (I <3 you guys!) To know that this poem was written on the hospital bed while he battled with his illnesses, it opened my eyes that I was in a predicament far better than his. I was not physically hurt like him though the scar in my pride cause much emotional agony. This taught me to appreciate life more instead of taking it away like the politics surrounding this poem. Those last two lines in the end teaches me that DESTINY in my hands, knowing how he braved through all these pain. He remained as one of my fave poets.
Invictus
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeoning of chance
My head is bloody, but unbow'd.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
By: William Ernest Henley
It's up to you, mate! :D
Just gotta let you know that we love you!
No matter what you had done,
we won't look down on you.
At least I won't. :)
We're gonna be stricter with you next year~
"Study! Don't play play~"
Though words are not spoken directly to you
but you're on our minds. ^^
